About the role

 

  • Full-time permanent position
  • Flexibility to be located nation-wide and work from home – interstate travel required
  • Additional three days annual leave between Christmas and New Year public holidays

  • Generous salary range from $120k (depending on experience) + 11.5% super + generous bonus, based on performance (also car parking if located in Canberra)

 

The Opportunity

The position is a pivotal senior position focused on shaping the future direction of the organisation.  You will closely collaborate with the CEO, Shauna Chadlowe, to grow and sustain long-term funding for CISS, build new commercial partnerships and advance their market position.

This is a permanent role with a competitive package and bonus incentive. There is flexibility to work remotely nation-wide, however interstate travel is expected throughout the contract to attend CISS’ head office in Canberra and meetings nation-wide. 

 

The Role

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Identifying and implementing strategic growth opportunities to deliver invasive species (pest and plant) research, management and control across major landholders in the mining, renewable energy, utilities, agri-business and environmental sectors.
  • Collaborating with CISS Senior Management team to develop and implement an ambitious business plan aimed at scaling the business, growing a team and achieving strong revenue growth.
  • Generating and maintaining a pipeline of good quality business leads
  • Building/ maintaining strategic relationships with business partners, stakeholders and prospects
  • Structuring, negotiating and closing deals with potential partners that are commercially profitable and mutually beneficial to all parties, and
  • Establishing long term strategic relationships to enhance CISS’ market and financial position.
  • Leveraging individual networks and the current CISS strategic pipeline opportunities
  • Delivering compelling presentations and proposals.
  • Writing and/ or coordinating the delivery of high-quality business proposals, quotes and tenders.
  • Work closely with CISS Head of R&D to ensure projects meet best practice standards
  • Manage and grow a team of talented operational staff who can deliver projects
  • Source and secure resources as required
  • Engaging with the CISS Board and key staff as appropriate.
  • Representing CISS at functions and other events to grow your prospect network and strengthen CISS’ reputation as a national leader in invasive species RD&E
  • Keep accurate, up-to-date records to track and monitor opportunities in CISS’s CRM system
  • Able to multi-task and effectively manage projects and meet deadlines within budget.
  • As an agile member of CISS’ senior management team, you’ll be expected to roll up your sleeves and support others when required, contributing to the broader aims of this growing organisation.
  • Managing the obligations and meetings of IAL Board and Senior Management including Board reporting and Committee reporting
  • Managing revenue and expenses budgets with the CISS Finance and Office Manager

 

The Ideal Person (selection criteria)

The top three competences to be successful in this role are:

  1. Business development (sales) and stakeholder/ relationship management experience with strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills
  2. Takes initiative to drive and generate new business through a strong network of contacts in the mining, land development, agri-business and/or environmental sectors
  3. Strong track record of achieving income growth targets within set timeframes, including the reviewing, writing and winning of tenders and proposals

 Other important skills areas that will make you successful in the role include:

  • Superior presentation and communication skills, including strong negotiation and persuasion 
  • Ability to negotiate and convert discussions to funding options and structure a deal that is mutually beneficial to all parties
  • Interest and/or background in land management, such as the environmental, mining, renewable energy and Agricultural sectors
  • Self-confidence and tenacity to pursue funding
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently as well as cooperatively and effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise work effectively
  • Ability to build relationships based on honesty, integrity and trust
  • Demonstrates self-insight and is receptive to 360-degree feedback
  • Can manage high intensity situations, remains calm under pressure and is deadline driven
